Mahalo.

First of all, I would like to say mahalo my family, our team, and all the people throughout our beautiful state who supported my campaign and our message along this amazing journey. I'm most proud to say that we stayed true to ourselves, and most of all, stayed true to the people of Hawaiʻi.

You gave me a reason to step up—so you could be heard—and the bridge we extended throughout our state is now strong, relevant, and will be instrumental to Hawaiʻi's near and far off future.

As we continue to travel the islands attending Democratic Party unity events, the response is still overwhelming. Your support and aloha will continue to fuel our fire as we move our accomplishments forward to new and exciting opportunities.

We gave it our all and close this chapter with no regrets, only new and strengthened relationships and an adjustment of our sails that will continue us to the goal of making a positive impact on Hawaiʻi.

IMUA!

The Garden Island

"Frankly, we believe the mayor has done a good job of inspiring the island and leading by example. When Carvalho shows up at an event — and he is at nearly everything — he brightens the room. Mind you, he doesn't have to attend so many community events. He could say he's busy and stay in the office. But he goes, and he makes people feel better. And when you feel better, you do better. There is a reason he was reelected by large margins."

Primary Election 2018:
The Race for Hawaii's Number Two

BERNARD CARVALHO: I believe the lieutenant governor's office can and should be the people's office. My strength as a leader is bringing people together, and this office has the potential to be that bridge between the people and their government.

As mayor of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau for the past 10 years, I've enjoyed building teams and empowering them to work on practical solutions. Together as a county, we've set footprints to address issues that affect not just our county, but the entire state. I've decided it's time to take those footprints to the next level.

Race for No. 2 spot has a lot to choose from

"With this election, the days of the almost-invisible LG may be over, especially if the hugely charismatic, diplomatically decisive and larger-than-life Bernard Carvalho is in office. With Carvalho as LG, no one would remember or care who the governor is."

Aloha!

Since 2008, it has been my honor to serve each and every person throughout Kauaʻi County as Mayor. I began my journey as a civil servant over 30 years ago because I believe in the importance of community. Everything we do in government must be done by incorporating the values of Hawaiʻi. As my time as Mayor comes to a close, my family and I have decided that my next step in public service—with your support—will be as the Lieutenant Governor of the State of Hawaiʻi.

'Action with Aloha' is a daily reminder of how our local leaders should constantly strive toward improving the lives of the people they serve through decisive action. Practice aloha by reaching out to members of the community, building bridges and listening. Bring those to the table with the manaʻo to help get things done.

As a husband, father and grandfather, I understand the many issues that face local residents from the cost of living to transportation to education and housing. As Mayor of Kauaʻi County, I understand the administrative work of the Governor and can support the Governor in fulfilling the needs of the people of Hawaiʻi—including all of the islands.

We're all in this together. Like a hukilau—where family and friends work as a team to throw the fishing net out, pull it in and share the catch—everyone can win through aloha.

Please support our campaign in any way you can and make sure to get out and vote!
